The Southwest Forest Health and Wildfire Prevention Act authorized the creation of three institutes in the Interior West dedicated to the development of relevant actionable knowledge and delivery of services to:

  • Accelerate the pace of landscape-scale of restoration;
  • Translate and transfer best available science for practical application by affected entities;
  • Promote the use of monitoring and adaptive management to reduce the risk of wildfires and restore the health of forest and woodland ecosystems over the long term; and,
  • Foster the development of a restoration economy.
